Cruz Sees Autonomous-Vehicle Framework Coming From Senate Panel

Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee Chair Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said he wants a regulatory framework for autonomous vehicles to be part of his panel’s work toward any surface transportation reauthorization.

“I very much hope this committee will move a surface transportation bill this year,” Cruz said at a subcommittee hearing on technological innovation Tuesday. “We’re hard at work on it and I hope one of the important elements of that bill will be an AV title.”
