Paxton Meets Trump at White House as Texas Senate Race Heats Up

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton met Tuesday with President Donald Trump at the White House as the Republican Senate nominee tries to consolidate his support and boost fundraising in one of the country’s most competitive midterm races.

Paxton, with Trump’s backing, won a bruising GOP runoff last week against long-time incumbent Senator John Cornyn that divided the MAGA wing of the party from more centrist conservatives. He and the president met in the Oval Office alongside Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick.
