Speaker Visits White House as FISA, Budget Bill Hang in Balance

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) will head to the White House for a meeting Tuesday, an aide familiar confirmed, as a key spy powers tool’s expiration looms and the House GOP ramps up ambitious plans for a third party-line budget bill.

The speaker also met with President Donald Trump at the White House last week, shortly before the administration canceled its “anti-weaponization” fund that was holding up an immigration funding bill in the Senate. House GOP leaders aim to pass that bill, dubbed “reconciliation 2.0,” this week. House Republicans want to clear another conservative bill, “reconciliation 3.0,” this summer.
