Boston Scientific Spinal Cord Simulator Suits Sent to California

Ten lawsuits alleging Boston Scientific Corp.'s surgically-implanted spinal cord simulator caused serious injuries to patients are being sent to federal court in California.

The US Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on June 5 consolidated lawsuits against Boston Scientific, but declined to centralize the suits against other manufacturers.

“While plaintiffs allege similar conduct on the part of each manufacturer, they do not allege the manufacturers acted in concert,” the panel said. “Each manufacturer has its own line of SCS devices, each of which have their own regulatory histories. Discovery will not overlap concerning each manufacturer’s conduct,” the panel added.
