A group of UK lawmakers urged the government to tax online betting operators at a higher rate and establish anti-avoidance measures for the industry.
Online betting operators should be taxed at a higher rate than physical casinos since the former promote “harmful, addictive, high frequency betting that bring no engagement with or benefit to life in our communities,” the UK’s Treasury Committee said in a report released Friday.
