Shoals Protects Solar Technology Patents From Competitor Voltage

US solar manufacturer Shoals Technologies Group LLC’s patents are enforceable in an infringement suit the company brought against competitor Voltage LLC and its Chinese affiliate, a federal judge says.

Evidence introduced during a bench trial earlier this year by Voltage and Ningbo Voltage Smart Production Co.'s doesn’t show inequitable conduct or unclean hands sufficient to render US Patent Nos. 12,015,375, 12,015,376, and 12,407,295 unenforceable, Judge Michael Urbanski said in an opinion Friday.

The patents owned by Shoals protect solar technology called lead assemblies, which connect solar panels arrays to a power inverter, according to the opinion.
