Tyson’s Devin Cole Departing Weeks After Naming of New CEO (1)

Tyson Foods Inc. said Chief Operating Officer Devin Cole will depart from the country’s largest meatpacker, less than two weeks after the company named a new chief executive officer.

Cole, who was appointed COO last fall, will be succeeded by Wes Morris effective June 15, the company said in a statement Monday.

The leadership change comes after Tyson in late May reached into its board of directors to tap Jeff Schomburger as CEO to replace Donnie King. Some analysts said that appointment came as a surprise, expecting an internal executive candidate such as Cole to be named.
