A driver dropped his proposed class action accusing the car-sharing platform Getaround Inc. of collecting and sharing its users’ biometric data with third parties without their consent.
Cory Anderson’s October complaint alleged Getaround’s data-retention and sharing practices violated Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act. He withdrew his claims in a notice of voluntary dismissal, without prejudice, Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Getaround had asked the judge to compel arbitration in January, according to a docket entry.
Parties’ attorneys didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
