Two former call center workers for Assurance IQ, which was acquired by Prudential Financial Inc., sued the companies for allegedly requiring unpaid pre-shift work and failing to pay proper wages under federal and state labor laws.
Robert Hooks and Theon Thompson seek to represent potentially thousands of customer service representatives who worked for Assurance IQ, according to a complaint filed June 5 in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. Prudential acquired Assurance IQ in 2019 for $2.35 billion and shut down the company in 2024, the lawsuit said.
