Challenge to Ohio’s Ban on Foreign Campaign Donations Is Dropped

Ohio officials and the challengers to a state law agreed Thursday to end a lawsuit that sought to strike down a law banning foreign nationals from contributing to ballot-measure campaigns and candidates in state elections.

The one-sentence filing entered by the Asian women’s advocacy group OPAWL, Attorney General Dave Yost (R), and Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) gave no reason for the agreed-upon dismissal. It said both sides would cover their own court costs and attorney fees.
