Amex to Acquire European Reservation Platform for $700 Million

American Express Co. agreed to buy Tripadvisor Inc.’s reservation-management platform TheFork for $700 million in cash, bolstering its operations in Europe.

The transaction is expected to be completed before the end of this year, pending regulatory approvals, according to a statement Monday. TheFork, which connects to more than 50,000 restaurants in 11 countries in Europe, will keep its existing leadership team, the firms said.

Amex is a major force in the dining and hospitality industry, having acquired the restaurant and events platforms Resy and Tock in 2019 and 2024, respectively.
