A Chicago judge has allowed a malpractice suit against law firm Baker McKenzie for its work with a Russian affiliate to move forward.
London-based Lehram Capital Investments is “entitled to conduct discovery on the relationship among Baker” and other entities before disputed questions are resolved, Judge John Tully Jr. of the Circuit Court of Cook County wrote on Oct. 17.
Baker McKenzie did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Lehram faults the law firm for loss in ownership of a Siberian coal mine in the suit targeting Baker over its work with Moscow-based Baker & McKenzie CIS lawyers. ...
