Ireland’s Finance Minister said he is confident a long-awaited multi-trillion-euro European saving and investments union is close to getting over the line after years of sparring between member states over how it would work.
“I genuinely believe we can get it done in 2026,” Simon Harris said at a Bloomberg event in London. Ireland will use its rotating European Union presidency in the second half of the year to “get the result over the line,” he added, saying, “this is one of those big transformation moments that we have to try and grasp.”
