The central Louisiana-based Diocese of Alexandria said it struck a tentative deal with a group of clergy sex abuse claimants on a pathway through its bankruptcy reorganization.
The agreement between the diocese and a group of lawyers representing a majority of abuse claimants focuses on leveraging the Catholic institution’s insurance policies as the main source of recovery for them, an Alexandria diocese attorney said at a hearing held Wednesday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Louisiana.
