The Justice Department’s bankruptcy watchdog urged a court to reject Jackson Walker LLP’s request for a jury trial over litigation alleging it concealed an ex-partner’s romance with a judge.
The Texas-based law firm isn’t entitled to a jury trial under the Seventh Amendment because the relief being sought isn’t legal in nature, the US Trustee said in a Wednesday filing in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
