Europe’s last solar-glass maker, GMB Glasmanufaktur Brandenburg GmbH, filed for insolvency and is shutting down after being unable to compete against cheaper Chinese imports that aren’t subject to tariffs.
The company, located in the eastern city of Tschernitz and owned primarily by India’s Borosil Renewables Ltd., struggled to survive for more than a year and relied on state support. It has more than 300 workers, according to the regional state’s economy ministry.
