Prison Health Units Lose Bankruptcy Shield After Missed Payments

Insiders and affiliates of prison health-care company Tehum Care Services Inc. lost legal protections acquired through a court-approved bankruptcy plan after failing to make timely settlement payments to a creditor trust.

YesCare Corp., a successor to former provider Corizon Health, and other entities tied to Tehum’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy are no longer entitled to immunity from legal claims that were settled during the case, including hundreds of personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits, according to a notice filed Wednesday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
