The city of Baltimore urged a federal judge to reject Purdue Pharma LP’s bankruptcy plan, saying it unlawfully discriminates against creditors that don’t agree to drop litigation against the drugmaker’s Sackler family owners.
Purdue’s Chapter 11 plan discriminates against non-federal government entities by putting them in the same creditor class but providing disparate treatment to those who don’t release legal claims against the Sacklers, Mayor Brandon M. Scott and the Baltimore City Council said in an objection filed Tuesday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
