Legislation passed by the US Senate would increase fees that Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees earn per case, increase Chapter 11 fees, and extend the terms of temporary bankruptcy judges.
Compensation for Chapter 7 trustees in no-asset bankruptcies would increase from $60 to $120 per case and the terms for some temporary bankruptcy judges would be extended from five years to 10 years under the Bankruptcy Administration Improvement Act of 2025 (S. 3424), which passed the US Senate unanimously Wednesday.
