President Donald Trump has tapped former Republican US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Chair Janet Dhillon to lead the government’s private-sector pension insurer.
A former top lawyer for retailer Dollar Tree Inc. and department stores Burlington Stores Inc. and JC Penney Co. Inc., she would oversee the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, an independent agency that protects defined-benefit plans for more than 30 million Americans.
Her Tuesday nomination comes as PBGC makes good on a $90 billion program to bail out some of the country’s most severely underfunded multiemployer plans.
