Advanced Air Mobility Industry Seeks Regulatory Clarity

More regulatory clarity would spur the development of air taxis and other advanced aircraft, industry officials told a House panel on Wednesday.

Aircraft flying with electric vertical take-off and landing technology—also known as eVTOL—can carry passengers with a pilot on board or transport cargo autonomously. But all face oversight from the Federal Aviation Administration.

“The greatest challenge for emerging technologies is the uncertainty around when and how policy and guidance is developed,” Kyle Clark, founder and chief executive officer of Beta Technologies, said in his prepared testimony before a subcommittee hearing of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
