Congress must pass stricter US export controls to clamp down on Beijing’s access to advanced artificial intelligence chips, China hawk Sen. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) said Tuesday at the annual Hill and Valley Forum in Washington.

Banks, who sits on the Senate Banking Committee that oversees export controls, is renewing legislative efforts to block sales to China of the most powerful AI chips from companies like Nvidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
