AI Chip Sale Limits to China Is Top Priority for House Chair

The top House Republican overseeing US export controls said he aims to ensure China doesn’t have access to powerful American artificial intelligence technology to boost its military and economy.

“We want to get to the point of no Chinese military end-users,” House Foreign Affairs Chairman Brian Mast (R-Fla.) said at an Information Technology Industry Council event Tuesday, warning of China’s ambitions to dominate the global AI industry. “You can look forward to us working to codify through the foreign affairs committee in our lane of export controls.”
