A House panel is delaying a vote on a bill that would limit legal challenges to artificial intelligence data center permits, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The bill, which the House Judiciary Committee was set to discuss Thursday, aims to protect data center permits from lawsuits related to a project’s environmental review. Sponsored by Rep. Michael Baumgartner (R-Wash.), Protect American AI Act (H.R. 8037) comes as the Trump administration has sought to promote AI infrastructure growth and ease permitting rules.
