AI Deepfakes, Artist Protections Targeted in New Senate Bill

New bipartisan legislation would promote transparency around deepfakes and empower artists, actors, journalists, and other creators to challenge artificial intelligence companies gobbling up their content without their consent.

Senate Commerce Chair Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) introduced the bill on Thursday with committee member Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the chamber’s bipartisan working group on AI.
