Publicly-traded companies and businesses with over 50 employees based in New York would be required to annually report how artificial intelligence impacts their hiring decisions under a new bill advanced by state lawmakers Thursday.
The measure, (S8706) which passed the state Senate after the Assembly approved it earlier this week, awaits final approval from Gov. Kathy Hochul (D). State lawmakers who back the measure argue that it’s necessary to collect real-time data on the emerging technology’s impact on the labor market.
