Technology companies are poised to face mandates to remove non-consensual pornography and other sexually explicit material after Congress took one of its most significant actions yet to respond to risks posed by artificial intelligence.

House lawmakers Monday voted 409-2 to clear bipartisan legislation (S. 146, H.R. 633) that aims to curb the spread of unauthorized deepfake pornography that has largely targeted girls and women, including prominent celebrities.
