Antitrust Bill Targeting Major Tech Firms Stalls in California

Legislation targeting the business practices of five of the largest technology companies stalled in the California capitol as lawmakers from both parties raised concerns about upending widely used services, such as Apple Inc.'s app store and Alphabet Inc.'s Google search.

Backed by the startup incubator Y Combinator, the bill (SB 1074) takes aim at the kinds of business practices that smaller tech companies have long complained make it more difficult to reach consumers and compete with established firms.
