Baltimore Bridge Rebuild Sparks Questions Over Federal Funding

The rebuild of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge will cost $1.7 billion and be completed by fall of 2028, Maryland’s top transportation official estimated to senators Wednesday, as Republicans questioned a proposal to fund it entirely with federal money.

The new projections come as Congress debates how many federal tax dollars should go toward the bridge that serves as a major artery for East Coast shipping and traffic.
