Iran poses a direct and persistent threat to the US, according to the resolution. It points to Iran’s “refusal to abandon its nuclear program” and financial support of groups labeled terrorist organizations by the US — including Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthi militia — and cites Pentagon data that Iranian-backed proxies have killed more than 600 US service members in Iraq.
