Senate and House committees would be directed to write legislation to fund immigration enforcement agencies through the end of President Donald Trump’s second term under a Senate budget resolution released April 21.
The Judiciary and Homeland Security committees could provide up to $70 billion each for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol, bypassing Democratic opposition in the Senate — as long as its provisions comply with specific budget rules.
