BGOV Bill Analysis: Fiscal 2025 Defense Authorization Agreement

Defense programs at the Pentagon, Energy Department, and other agencies would be authorized to receive $883.7 billion under an amendment to H.R. 5009, the compromise fiscal 2025 National Defense Authorization Act.

The funding would be in line with the spending cap set for national security programs under the June 2023 debt-limit deal (Public Law 118-5). It would include $849.9 billion for the Defense Department and $33.2 billion for the Energy Department. The discretionary total, which includes amounts outside the Armed Services committees’ jurisdiction, would be $895.2 billion.
