BGOV Bill Analysis: House-amended H.R. 7147, DHS Stopgap

The Homeland Security Department would receive temporary funding through May 22 under a House amendment to the Senate-passed version of H.R. 7147.

The measure would reopen the department, which has been partially shut down since Feb. 14 amid an ongoing funding deadlock between Democrats and the White House over immigration enforcement policies.

It would retroactively extend fiscal 2025 funding from a previous stopgap spending law (Public Law 119-37; BGOV Bill Analysis) that would run through May 22. It also would provide back pay and benefits for DHS personnel and to cover any mission necessary obligations made ...
