Congressional Republicans are largely opposing efforts to end the joint US-Israeli military campaign against Iran, giving President Donald Trump cover to continue the intensifying conflict in the Middle East.
The US and Israel have launched multiple air and missile strikes against Iran since Feb. 28, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials. Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks against Israel and on US military installations in the Middle East, including ones in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
