The Pentagon provided additional details for its proposed fiscal 2027 budget as Congress prepares to work on annual defense spending and authorization language in the coming months.
The Defense Department released its $1.5 trillion budget request on April 21 with detailed breakdowns of funding for military personnel, operations and maintenance, procurement, research and development programs, and military construction. The total assumes $350 billion in mandatory spending for fiscal 2027 that would be provided through a GOP-only budget reconciliation bill separately from the regular annual appropriations legislation.
