BGOV OnPoint: Trump Budget Seeks Defense Boost, Civilian Cuts

The Trump Administration proposed a major boost to Defense Department spending in its fiscal 2027 budget request while calling for cuts to most non-defense federal agencies.

The request calls on Congress to provide $2.2 trillion in new budget authority for the coming fiscal year, a $289 billion boost over comparable fiscal 2026 funding levels.
