Rep. Earl Blumenauer will leave Congress after almost three decades in Washington, and before setting off last week on a ride on his red Trek Portland, it was clear he wasn’t done extolling the benefits of bicycles.
“Like five minutes after he announced he was retiring he was already reaching out to me,” Polly Trottenberg, the deputy secretary at the Transportation Department, said, calling the Oregon Democrat a “relentless” champion for cycling. “His work is far from done.”
