The Biden administration has warned it will sue Texas if the state enforces an aggressive immigration law set to take effect in March.
The Justice Department in a letter to Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said that the law, S.B. 4, is preempted by federal law and the US Constitution.
“Accordingly, the United States intends to file suit to enjoin the enforcement of SB 4 unless Texas agrees to refrain from enforcing the law,” Brian Boynton, principal deputy assistant attorney general, said in a letter obtained by Bloomberg Government.
