Bill Repealing Biden-Era Energy Rebates Passes House

The House Wednesday passed legislation 210-199 that would claw back federal dollars for the creation of state energy efficiency assistance programs.

The Republican-led bill would revoke unobligated grant money funded in Democrats’ 2022 tax-and-climate law.

The legislation (H.R. 4758) is the latest from congressional Republicans to reverse energy conservation standards and programs championed by Democrats. The House on Tuesday passed another measure (H.R. 4626) that would roll back tougher energy efficiency standards on appliances, saying the standards increase costs for consumers and limit their choices.

The Senate still has to vote on both bills.
