Bipartisan Obamacare Tax Credit Extension Bill Emerges in House

A bipartisan group of House lawmakers are pushing legislation to extend enhanced Obamacare tax credits for two years with some restrictions, adding to the wide range of proposals to address the threat of rising premiums next year.

The proposal, introduced Friday by Reps. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.), Don Bacon (R-Neb.), Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), and Jeff Hurd (R-Co.), would extend the enhanced premium tax credits for enrollees making less than 600% of the federal poverty level, and would phase out the tax credits for enrollees making between 600% and 935% of the federal poverty level.
