More poultry producers would be eligible for bird flu reimbursement from the federal government under legislation set to be proposed Wednesday by a bipartisan group of lawmakers.
The measure, by Rep. Jim Costa (D-Calif.), obtained exclusively by Bloomberg Government, would provide payments to any poultry facility within a certain perimeter of detected bird flu infections if the farm had to restrict its production—even if no birds in that particular flock were infected or destroyed.
