Blue States Weigh Roadblocks to Hinder Trump Deportation Plans

Democratic state officials are preparing for the mass deportations promised by President-elect Donald Trump with proposals and pledges to limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.

Governors in Massachusetts, Illinois, and elsewhere are looking at options to push back against a deportation operation Trump has said will be the biggest in US history. Legislation pending in New York and New Jersey would prohibit local police from asking about immigration status, among other protections.
