A docile Congress is showing glimmers of independence. Now, weighty questions about military strikes in the Caribbean will test how hard Republicans are willing to push the Trump administration.

Some senior Republicans are taking newly aggressive steps by pledging to investigate the attacks, setting up potentially the most significant oversight yet from the GOP toward President Donald Trump.

There have been other signs of defiance from Republicans in Congress recently, including on the Jeffrey Epstein files and Trump’s tariffs. But this is by far the biggest issue, and could bring fierce blowback from the administration.
