Both Parties Turn to ‘No Kings’ Rally In Search Of Shutdown Edge

Both sides of the shutdown fight are using a series of planned anti-Trump protests to try to boost their messages — and turn up the heat on their opponents — as the congressional stalemate heads toward another week.

Nearly 2,700 “No Kings” protest events are planned for Oct. 18, with organizers claiming millions of people are expected to attend across the country. Despite the protest being announced before the government shutdown began on Oct. 1, it has gained prominence as both parties scramble to use it to further their shutdown messaging.
