Bridge Collapse Prompts Supply-Chain Resilience Push From DHS

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is urging companies to ensure their supply chains are able to withstand disruptions after the Baltimore bridge collapse and port impacts scrambled the movement of cargo along the East Coast.

The Baltimore disaster, which killed six people, is a stark reminder of the many vulnerabilities the trade industry faces on any given day, Mayorkas said at Customs and Border Protection’s Trade Facilitation and Cargo Security Summit in Philadelphia.
