The ongoing government shutdown is bringing rising uncertainty and economic risks for lobbyists and their clients, from tiny brewers to big business groups US Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable.
Lobbying meetings and policy events have been postponed on Capitol Hill and in the executive branch, as lawmakers and agencies navigate the shutdown in some cases with limited staff and shifting priorities, lobbyists said.
The Roundtable and the Chamber both have called on policymakers to pass a stop-gap measure. Business groups also are rounding up economic data and stories from companies about how the shutdown affects their bottom lines. ...
