California Approves Funds to Fight Trump Administration in Court

The California Assembly on Monday cleared a measure that would give $50 million for the state attorney general to fight President Donald Trump in court and provide legal aid services for immigrants targeted by his administration’s plan for mass deportations.

The Senate passed the package last week on largely party-line votes and it heads to the desk of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who asked lawmakers to approve the funding as part of a special session he called shortly after Trump was elected.
