California lawmakers are moving to loosen staffing requirements for pharmacies that are some of the strictest in the country.
A pharmacist would be allowed to supervise up to three technicians at a time, instead of just one, under legislation (AB 1503) approved by the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee by 10-0 vote Monday.
Drug stores have lobbied for years to modify staffing rules they contend amount to a costly limit on the number of technicians they can have on duty.
