A years-long debate over strengthening California’s antitrust laws shifts to the legislature after a state review commission voted to send lawmakers recommendations to crack down on anticompetitive business practices.
The proposal from the California Law Revision Commission would amount to a major expansion of the state’s central antitrust law, the Cartwright Act, by extending it to cover not just anticompetitive behavior by two or more businesses but also activity by firms acting on their own.
