California Privacy Agency Fines Clothing Retailer $345,000 (1)

Todd Snyder Inc. will pay $345,178 and change its privacy practices under a settlement for allegedly violating the California Consumer Privacy Act, the state privacy regulator announced Tuesday.

The national clothing retailer, which is owned by American Eagle Outfitters Inc., allegedly failed to properly oversee its privacy portal infrastructure, resulting in a 40-day period where consumer privacy requests were not processed. The California Consumer Privacy Act gives companies 15 business days to respond to requests to stop personal data from being shared or sold.
